The Yomiuri ShimbunControversy has developed over Tokyo Gov. Yoichi Masuzoe’s spending on overseas trips and his habit of staying at a vacation home on weekends. The Tokyo metropolitan government said it had received a total of 4,600 telephone calls and e-mails about the issue, most of them critical. Masuzoe made his ninth overseas trip from April 12 to 18, visiting the United States. While there, he participated in four to seven events a day, including inspection visits, meetings and giving speeches.
